    All programs are voluntary and are provided at no charge to Burnaby and New Westminster residents.

    Child and youth 18 years of age and under Burnaby or New Westminster resident.

    Programs

    Long Term Counselling

    Child and Youth Mental Health (C&Y)
    For children and youth exhibiting mental health concerns. Referrals from Mental Health.

    Long Term Family
    Individual and/or family counselling for a range of family issues. Referrals from any source.

    High-Risk Youth Program (HRYP)
    Provides support for youth at risk. No waitlist. Length of service is open. Referrals from Ministry of Children & Family Development (MCFD).

    Long Term Sexual Abuse (LTSA)
    For a child or youth who has experienced historical sexual abuse, with clear disclosure that has been investigated. Referrals from any source.

    Sexual Health Intervention Program (SHIP)
    Provides specialized counselling services to children 12 years of age and under exhibiting sexually intrusive behaviour, and their families. Referrals from any source.

    Trauma
    For a child or youth and their family who have experienced trauma. Referrals from MCFD and Mental Health.

    Short Term Counselling

    Short Term Family
    For families experiencing a situational crisis. Referrals from MCFD.

    Short Term Sexual Abuse (STSA)
    For a new sexual abuse disclosure made by a child or youth and their families and investigated by MCFD and/or police. Referrals from any source.

    Groups

    Girls Group
    Counselling group held at various Burnaby schools for girls of various ages, as needed.

    New Immigrant Parenting Group
    For a new immigrant and Burnaby parent of child aged 0 - 5. Counselling group that focuses on issues related to parenting and immigration.

    Other Programs

    Assisting the Community with Transitioning Students (ACTS)
    Mentors, guides and builds life skills in children in grades five to seven. Facilitates a more successful transition to high school. Currently at Stoney Creek, Edmonds, Second Street, Armstrong and Cameron elementary schools in Burnaby.

    Burnaby Youth Clinic
    Free counselling, by appointment only, for youth under the age of 25 years. Mondays and Tuesdays from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. The Youth Clinic is located at 4734 Imperial Street, Burnaby V5J 1C2 604-293-1764.

    Child and Youth Victim Support Service (CVSS)
    Provides support and advocacy for children and youth 18 years of age and under who have been physically or sexually abused, and who need to testify in court. Referrals from any source.

    Community Kitchen
    A Community Kitchens group is formed with 6-8 parents who meet with the co-ordinator to cook tasty recipes, gain new ideas and to create new friendships. Guest speakers are invited occasionally. Once meals are prepared, parents take home their portions.

    Prevention and early intervention services to parents and parents-to-be to increase a family's knowledge and skills for effective parenting to strengthen family resiliency. Individual counselling and group training modules. For parents with child aged 0 - 5. Referrals from any source.
